Charming and evocative, SoYa sunglasses symbolize maximalist self-expression.
A kaleidoscopic vision
Founded by Italian designer Matteo Pontello in 2015, SoYa eyewear is a dream manifested after years of working within fashion eyewear. For over 18 years, the creative director helped re-launch various eyewear collections at Marcolin, Sefilo, Kering eyewear, Celine, Bottega Veneta and Fendi, amongst others.
The summary of all his experience, the brand highlights Pontello’s expert eye for craft and design. A play on words, SoYa comes from the Italian così è, which essentially translates to ‘so it is.’ For Pontello, these words illustrate the sensation when you find yourself on the right path.
A geometric gaze
The brand’s signature shape, the triangle, and the label’s tagline, vertical connection, speaks of creativity, beauty, and intuition which are key themes behind all of its collections. Designs feature chunky rims, powerful silhouettes and statement shapes. Geometric acetate frames further highlight the brand’s fearless attitude for self-expression.
Breaking old conforms of eyewear design, the brand reveals its own signature personality with its affinity for repeating patterns. Archetypal designs show off angled edges, with the motif of the triangle often found on frame fronts and temple sides.
Always at play
Unique looks are curated using diverse materials and aesthetics. Marbleized acetate, rose gold metal and light and dark tortoiseshell play against each other for a harmonious edge. Thick browline acetate rims recall classic 50s inspiration, yet diffused with modernized features such as the label’s contemporary touches and stylized tapered end tips.
Modern with an appreciation for traditional eyewear design, SoYa’s style, aesthetics and wearability highlights its unique flair for boldness and beauty.
