Built for industry, worn by stars: Persol eyewear
Founded in 1917, Persol is one of the world’s oldest eyewear brands. Giuseppe Ratti was working as an optician when he started noticing that pilots were looking for something to protect their eyes from the sun. He then developed his first eyewear model, ‘The Protector.’ They were an instant hit, becoming popular with race car drivers and motorcyclists around the world.
From this point on, Ratti created Persol eyeglasses for all industries, each model having a unique brilliance. The 714 - launched in 1963, were the first foldable glasses and it was this model that became the favorite of Hollywood star Steve McQueen.
