Eyeglass Trends 2024: What’s big in eyewear for the year ahead
Style
December 19, 2023

In the last half of 2023, it seems that eyeglasses have been reintroduced into the fashion lexicon. If you’re looking to make the switch from contact lenses to prescription frames, just know there’s never been a more stylish time.

Glasses were a focal point at the SS24 shows with brands like Miu Miu, Balenciaga, Victoria Beckham and more introducing bold optical looks that we’re sure will carry on to the FW24 collections, too.

Read on to discover the trending glasses shapes, colors and styles for 2024.

What color eyeglasses are on trend for 2024?

2024 trends: Pastel glasses

Light pastels, lavenders, seafoam greens and peachy hues (after all it is the official color of the year, according to Pantone) will start trending in eyewear next year.

These frames are perfect for both the color-loving and color-avoidant. Pastel eyeglasses can be dressed up or down; for example, paired with neutrals they create a more subdued look, while bright, saturated tones will add a lively spark.

2024 trends: Havana glasses

The preppy look is making a comeback next year, and what better way to get the academic-inspired feel than with a pair of smart havana eyeglasses? They come in every shape and size, making them the ultra-versatile trend for anyone’s style.

Brands like Oliver Peoples and Mr. Leight promote unique havana acetate options, complete with rich brown tones and vintage-inspired silhouettes, think round pantos and thick rectangular glasses.

What shape of eyeglasses are on trend for 2024?

Browline glasses

When it comes to the preppy look, labels like Miu Miu, Balenciaga and Chanel agree. For SS24, both fashion houses sent chunky rectangular frames down the runway. Miu Miu went straight for ‘50s-inspired frames complete with a thick browline and metal rims.

Chanel added a more feminine feel to the trend by including a chain to highlight the silhouette, while Balenciaga kept it sleek with thinner rims in a standout black. Get the same Mad Men-inspired style with square or rectangular silhouettes in black acetate.

‘70s metal aviators

The eye-catching 70’s aviator silhouette is also back, as Gucci’s SS24 collection demonstrated. If you feel like the ‘70s aviator has been here for a while, you wouldn’t be mistaken – there’s something effortlessly cool about the silhouette that makes it the edgy look season after season.

This year’s iterations see variations on the theme with ornamental silver and gold rims, rounder lens shapes and slender double bridges.

Rimless glasses

If you’re into minimalist style, you’ll love the rimless glasses trend in 2024. While Cartier is perhaps the most famous brand to do the rimless look, other brands started to show their variations on the trend in the latest SS23 lines. They’re delicate, versatile and highlight your facial features.

Titanium frames

Titanium is one of the strongest metals that exists and it's also ultra-lightweight, which is why eyeglasses made from the material are always in style. First reserved for only ultra-luxury brands, titanium is now used more and more with other labels, making it more widespread and affordable too.

For 2024, consider adding titanium to your eyewear rotation. It’s durable and will stand the test of time, making it a great investment material if you wear frames every day.
