February 29, 2024

This fashion month, couldn’t help but scour the runways for the eyewear styles that the most-watched houses presented. And as the FW24 runways come to a close, we are more than happy with what we saw.

More feminine womenswear collections were the winners, with transparent materials (à la Saint Laurent) and bejeweled necklines (we’re looking at you Gucci) following suit. That, and a penchant for the mysterious allure of a sleek pair of shades. From Milan to Paris, the sunglasses dominated on and off the catwalks. Read on to delve into our favorite Fashion Week 2024 eyewear trends.

Bottega Veneta

Making the maximum out of every day was Matthieu Blazy’s goal when presenting Bottega Veneta at Milan Fashion Week 2024. Outfits were coined as real and pragmatic, yet never understated, centering instead on volume and the art of dressing itself.

Oversized leather jackets were paired with black caps that fit snuggly over black shades while big shield aviator silhouettes in a cool transparent brown were paired with warm burgundy clutches and ivory trenches.

The runway was filled with a star-studded audience. Brand ambassador ASAP Rocky was spotted in the house’s latest eyewear collection, showcasing a pair of timeless havana frames.

Gucci

The tone was set at Sabato De Sarno’s second runway for Gucci. Balanced against the creative director’s debut collection last September, De Sarno continued his pared-back essentialist expression for the house, cementing the turning of the guard and a noticeable shift from the house’s previous eccentricity. ‘90s-inspired cat-eye frames accessorized butter yellow and burgundy coats, adding a cutting edge that contrasted against a more elegant feel.

The front row also showcased their love for the brand’s latest shades. Black silhouettes with gold-touched Gucci lettered temples caught the eye as well as the house’s modern iterations on the rectangular frame.

Chloé

At Chemena Kamali’s first show for Chloé the new creative director delved into the the Maison’s heritage. A flurry of ‘70s-style sheer ruffles, black and brown capes, and bohemian-inspired jewelry reminded us of the house’s freshness.

In exploring the heart of the brand, Kamali didn’t shy away from accessories. Instead, they were brought to center stage, specifically eyewear. Retro and oversized aviator frames with slender metal rims were seen on several looks, while gradient-tinted lenses in orange, red and violet added a powerful touch to the the collection’s airier feel. One thing is clear, the Chloé girl has returned.

Saint Laurent

Saint Laurent Paris Fashion Week FW24

While the Saint Laurent Fall 2024 runway favored sheer transparency over accessories and eyewear, guests had another idea, pairing their sheer iterations with the brand’s penchant for statement sunglasses.

Spotted: signature YSL silhouettes such as big aviators and all-black shades worn by Olivia Wilde and Monica Bellucci. And to be fully transparent? We loved it.
