Aviator Sunglasses
Cool personified, aviator sunglasses were first designed for U.S. fighter pilots in the mid 1930s to protect their eyes from the glare of the sun, since then they have become an essential piece in wardrobes across the world. Suited to both women and men, aviators have been worn in films (most famously by Tom Cruise in Top Gun) and by actors and musicians over the course of the last 80 years. Their popularity is due to their flattering teardrop shape that curves along the cheekbone, and for their wearability: throw them on with a simple pair of jeans and a crisp white t-shirt, and you’re good to go.
Our collection spans the classic thin wire metal frames, from the classic Ray-Ban RB3025 to more reimagined designs, like the Italian Persol PO0649, a style featuring plastic acetate frames. A timeless statement, once you’ve chosen a pair, you’ll never take them off.
Aviator sunglasses suit oval and heart-shaped faces, making them an ideal look for many wearers. Unsure about what face shape you have? Head to our editors' guide to find out.
