Over 100 years of optical experience come to life in MOSCOT sunglasses: the brand is as specialized in bringing to life classics from their back catalog, as they are in developing new shapes with a strong personality.
A global brand with a local heart
MOSCOT first began when Hyman Moscot arrived from Eastern Europe in 1899 and started selling ready-made glasses from a pushcart. This pushcart is still part of the brand identity and is featured on the temple tips of their acetate glasses. Hyman’s designs quickly gained popularity, and by 1915 his following was so big he opened the family’s first historical retail shop on Rivington Street, New York. Although the brand is now recognized around the world, it still heavily identifies with its image as a neighborhood optical shop.
New York, New York
New York City isn’t just where the brand started, it’s also where all of the brand’s frames are still proudly designed and prototyped. All MOSCOT eyewear is handmade using the highest quality materials, real hardware and hinges that are riveted through the temple and frame fronts. Plus, each frame is made in multiple sizes so that wearers can find the perfect fit for their face.
Original and spirited
MOSCOT divides their eyewear into two collections: Originals and Spirit. Originals are inspired by glasses from the brand’s historic archives, while Spirit are new designs made with the brand’s commitment to authenticity. For sunglasses, one of the most noted Original frames is the MILTZEN SUN, a round, full-vue model which was first introduced by the brand in the 1930s. It comes in ruby with gray lenses, bark with G-15 lenses or blonde with calibar green lenses. Spirit sunglasses include a 1970s-style aviator made from acetate and comes in light gray with gray lenses or burnt tortoise with green lenses.
Edgy, ready-for-anything styles that have a timeless quality is exactly what MOSCOT sunglasses are about.
