This year, Fashion Month had us thinking about the future, or more appropriately, next Spring/Summer 2024. And while we loved all the glimpses into the upcoming trends that the catwalks established this month, we can’t help but gravitate to the creative looks of the attendees.

Pulling out their best looks and sleekest sunglasses, the fashion crowd was the one to watch. In every major city, runway-goers pulled off a different eyewear trend, effectively setting the style tone for the current season.

From celebrities to industry experts and the general fashion-addicted, we’ve rounded up our favorite eyewear looks from 2023’s Fashion Month.

Big Theatrics

New York is Fashion Month’s kick-off. So it’s only appropriate that it's all big theatrics. For SS24, Big Apple attendees didn’t pull any punches. Street style at New York Fashion Week was loud, proud and colorful. Eyewear followed suit.

The capital seemed to declare, ‘the more attention the better.’ Balenciaga’s latest Gotham Cat sunglasses were spotted, as were black shades with brightly tinted lenses which undeniably reminded us of Cutler and Gross.

White, ivory frames also saw a comeback, especially in the oh-so glamorous cat-eye shape.

Saint Laurent shades were also spotted more than once. Particularly their attention-grabbing Blaze shades and the unofficial favorites of Hailey Bieber, the SL 557 shade sunglasses.

Street Style Eyewear Trends at London Fashion Week

Posh Meets Rebel

Next stop, London Fashion Week. Fellow British fashionistas and international attendees gathered in the capital to showcase what can only be defined as a mash-up of styles: Posh and tailored British ensembles met London’s punk heart. Generations collided in a costume-combination of elegance and rebellion.

The more polished looks saw matching brownish-beige neutrals (could that be The Cortado Rule’s influence?) and black cat-eyes.

While those who came to play strutted around in slender black rectangular frames, ‘90s oval sunglasses with metal rims and once again white sunglasses.

Rimless frames also played a role. The perfect way to get them to stand out? Make sure your lenses are tinted, big and colorful. Cartier knows what we mean.

Street Style Eyewear Trends at Milan Fashion Week

All-Black With Gilded Touches

At Milan Fashion Week, elegance, beauty and refinement reigned supreme. The Italian fashion capital always delivers on the classic and timeless, and this year black sunglasses were the winning choice.

From all-black aviators to Gucci’s black rectangle shades, attendees had a thing for the monochromatic. Who can blame them? Black goes with everything, and it's perfect for building a capsule wardrobe too.

While black was the go-to look, some went against the status quo. Peggy Gou showed up at the Bottega Veneta SS24 runway in the brand’s reflective Hem sunglasses.

At the same catwalk, Yara Shahidi wore the brand’s metal aviators with yellow-tinted lenses.

A thoughtful, yet subtle touch of color which refreshed both their fits.

Street Style Eyewear Trends at Paris Fashion Week

Anything Goes, Literally

Fashion month always ends with a bang. How could it not, when the finale takes place in Paris? Paris Fashion Week offers show-goers the final chance to wear their most outlandish looks. Award goes to the best polka-dot iterations, craziest patterns and most fun combinations. It truly is anything goes.

It was the moment to break out the boldest looks. Example? Big wraparound bug-eyed shades, these ones from Gucci are great.

Shield sunglasses also saw a comeback, and while we've predicted this, Paris consolidated the trend.

We’re loving these crystal-embellished mask sunglasses from Alexander McQueen, and these pink-tinted Gucci shield shades will definitely satisfy your sweet tooth. Experiment with your style like fashion week icons, matchy-matchy is boring anyway.
